Freebie Release: 45 High Quality Fruits Stock Photos
Dec 10th

The collection is made up of 45 high quality fruit photos and they are all free to download with no strings attached.
You can use these photos in all sorts of individual or commercial project without any restriction. However, you may not be able to resell, hotlink, re-distribute or make profit out of these photos. Please link to this article if you find these photos useful and would like to help spread a word.
Behind the scene
We’d like to take this opportunity to thank Min Thu for the generosity to release these stock photos (for free) in hongkiat.com.
My intention was to shoot these photos and to use them on free templates specifically created for flashmo.com and templatemo.com websites. Then, I think it would be really great to share with other people who love those kinds of photos around the world.
The photos were shot using Canon Kiss X3 (also known as 500D) mounted Canon F/4L 70-200mm lens. Some of them are shot using a tripod (Velbon DV-6000). I put the fruits on the 5×2 feet white table located at a big open-air balcony of my home.
Hongkiat is a very great place for web designers and developers on the net and it occasionally features photography related posts and useful freebies. I think it would be great giving free stock photos that can be used for any purpose for Hongkiat readers – Min Thu.
Thank you very much Min Thu for the great intention, we really appreciate it!

Facebook New Marketing Rules – A Cheat Sheet
Nov 5th

- Image via Wikipedia
Facebook is slowly removing many of the elements that made it a marketer’s wet dream.
Facebook announced several major changes that affect marketers using the platform to promote their services:
1. Splitting feeds to news feed and live feed – users see, as defualt, a feed with only content and comments from their friends. Information about groups etc was moved to a separate feed.
2. Removal of app notification - Facebook apps will not be able to send notifications to users.
These changes reduce the virality of the platform in a major way.
For example, if in the past one could invite friends to become fans of a page, and his friends would have seen that he joined, now they wouldn’t see it unless they look for it. This effect was crucial for virality of fan pages and applications. The same goes for notifications.
While many users rejoice, as they see more relevant and focused information on their feed and notification tab, marketers should rethink the way they interact in Facebook.
The two most important consequences for marketers are:
1. Advertising becomes more important in creating traffic to Facebook applications and fan pages - without virality, paid advertisement within the platform, or in other channels, is an important part of any Facebook marketing activity
2. Fan pages and apps should provide more value to users, as it will be more difficult to attract repeat visitors.
100+ Clean, Simple and Minimalist Website Designs
Oct 30th
Minimalism has been a popular website design style for years. It has so many benefits; minimalist sites load faster, take fewer server resources, and are often faster to develop than more graphically complicated designs. Plus, they give a professional, clean impression to visitors.
Many people still view minimalist designs as boring. But there’s a real art to effective minimal website designs, something not all designers can effectively master. When you limit the number of graphic elements you use and put the focus on negative space and typography, a good eye for spacing and proportion becomes crucial.
Below are more than 100 excellent examples of clean, simple and minimalist website designs. They run the gamut from simple brochure-style sites to ecommerce and portfolio sites. What they all have in common is a design aesthetic where less is more.
